Skin Needling

Skin Needling, or Collagen Induction Therapy, is a transformative skincare procedure that rejuvenates the skin through a minimally invasive technique. This involves using extremely fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, reaching deep into the epidermis and dermis layers.

This method initiates micro-injuries, which, while they might sound concerning, are beneficial. They allow for the deep infusion of therapeutic serums, triggering the body’s natural healing response. As a result, cellular communication is enhanced, and the body releases growth factors.

These growth factors play a crucial role in stimulating the production of elastin and collagen in the dermis. Additionally, the treatment promotes the formation of new blood vessels, known as neovascularisation, which boosts blood circulation to the skin. Consequently, there’s a notable improvement in skin rejuvenation, with enhancements in the skin’s texture, firmness, and hydration levels.

Address multiple skin concerns

Skin Needling is a versatile procedure, especially effective for treating acne and related scarring and minimising the appearance of enlarged pores. It can also address pigmentation issues such as melasma, age spots, and rosacea. The boosted collagen production assists in fading stretch marks and scars from surgery or burns and contributes to skin tightening, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Different serums or growth factors can be infused during Skin Needling, each targeting different skin concerns.

Hyaluronic Acid:

Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse for hydration, capable of attracting and holding significant moisture. When infused into the skin, it reduces fine lines and makes the skin plump and hydrated.

Vitamin C:

Known for its antioxidant properties, Vitamin C can brighten the skin, reduce pigmentation, and even improve skin tone. It also plays a role in collagen synthesis, further enhancing rejuvenation.

Peptides:

Peptides are small fragments of proteins that signal the skin to produce more collagen, boosting the skin’s firmness, smoothing out wrinkles, and repairing barrier function.

PRP:

PRP involves using the your own blood, processed to concentrate platelets rich in growth factors. When infused into the skin, PRP accelerates healing, enhances tissue repair, and promotes collagen production, leading to rejuvenated skin with improved texture and tone.

Lightening Agents:

To tackle hyperpigmentation, serums containing ingredients like kojic acid or liquorice root extract can be used. They help in fading age spots, melasma, and other forms of discolouration.

Exosomes:

These are nano-sized vesicles known for their role in cell communication. Infusing exosomes during skin needling can significantly enhance the skin’s regenerative processes. They deliver a high concentration of growth factors, proteins, and RNAs directly to skin cells, encouraging regeneration, reducing inflammation, and improving skin elasticity and appearance.

In essence, Skin Needling offers a comprehensive approach to skincare. It’s minimally invasive and can be customised with different serums to target specific concerns, making it a preferred option for those seeking a versatile, effective solution to various skin issues.

What to Expect

Prior to skin needling treatment starting, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns with your practitioner. From here, we will assess your skin and based upon your goals, a treatment plan will be devised. Depending on your concern, your clinician will select specific active ingredients to be infused giving you targeted skin results. You will also have the option to include a chemical skin peel with your treatments. These peels will further improve your results, however may not be appropriate for all skin types. We can apply complimentary numbing cream for comfort, however this may reduce the effect of the active products. The total skin needling treatment will take approximately 30 – 45 minutes depending on infusions.

Aftercare Advice

Immediately after, your skin will be pink and glowing. This will subside over the next day. We recommend staying out of direct sunlight and avoiding any active ingredients in your skincare for the next 24 hours. This is due to the increased thermal sensitivity of the treated area. You should also avoid any anti-wrinkle, dermal filler or micro-dermabrasion treatments for two weeks post-treatment. Skin needling can be performed every eight weeks, allowing the maturation of new collagen and elastin cells to occur.
