A beautiful smile can brighten your life socially and professionally. Everyone suffers from various degrees of teeth discolouration due to both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. No matter how often you brush your teeth, floss or visit the dentist, these factors can take their toll on the natural glow of your teeth.
Fortunately, professional teeth whitening is an effective way to lighten and brighten your smile. Teeth whitening has not been shown to effect the hardness of your enamel or gingival index.
Here at Aesthetic Allure, we use a high intensity blue laser light which activates the whitening solution on your teeth. This whitening gel releases the bond of free radicals which cause discolouration to your teeth. The light oxidizes the pigmentation of the teeth through the dentin tubules restoring them to a beautiful pearly white.
While everyone will notice an improvement immediately after the treatment, subsequent treatment sessions may be advised for some clients. This can be due to teeth heavily stained teeth from tetracyclines or speckled with fluoride. We will discuss this with you on the day of your teeth whitening appointment.
Your clinician will firstly explain how our cosmetic teeth whitening works and assess your teeth. We will then compare your teeth against the corresponding colour on the Vita Colour Chart. We will use this number for comparison after your treatment. Your teeth whitening appointment is booked in for 90 minutes. This allows time your consult and applications of gel in three 20 minute spaces.
Firstly, your clinician will apply Vaseline to your lips, ensuring that they don’t dry too much during your treatment. We will then insert a guard into your mouth to push and lift your lips away from your mouth. If the guard causes too much discomfort, your clinician can place little cotton pillows to the side of your gums for further comfort. We will then dry the surface of your teeth prior to applying the whitening gel. Then, its time to chill out and relax (with your amazing protective eyewear on) 60 minutes underneath the laser light. After each 20 minute interval, further gel will be applied. Please let your Clinician know if there are any parts of your gum that become sensitive to the whitening so that we can rectify this for you.
After the completion of your treatment, any excess gel will be removed from your teeth. You will have the opportunity to rinse your mouth out thoroughly. Then it is time to check out your new smile and compare your new, whitened teeth to the colour they were previously!
We will send you through your after-care advice via email after your appointment. If your teeth were stained from tetracycline or fluoride, you are able to have a subsequent appointment in two weeks time. Some clients will note that part of their gums may whiten during the treatment. This is perfectly okay and WILL go away within a couple of hours.
