Lower Face Dermal Enhancements

A lower face dermal enhancement can help restructure and restore lost volume due to the effects of aging. We can also use these enhancements to aesthetically define and shape the jawline, creating a more chiselled profile. Lower Face Enhancements work best in-conjunction with Cheek Enhancements. You can further improve upon these results with a non-surgical thread lift.

NASOLABIAL FOLDS

Nasolabial folds, the pronounced lines that extend from the sides of the nose down towards the mouth corners, become more visible as we age due to the loss of volume in the mid-face and cheeks.

To address deep nasolabial folds, enhancement material is carefully injected into the area using either a sharp needle or a cannula. This technique is aimed at replenishing the lost volume and smoothing out the appearance of these creases, contributing to a more youthful look.

Often, treatments for nasolabial folds are complemented with cheek enhancements to restore the overall volume and structure of the mid-face. By targeting the root cause of volume loss with cheek enhancements, we can indirectly lift and reduce the prominence of nasolabial folds, thereby alleviating the appearance of heaviness in the lower face. This comprehensive approach might not suit everyone; during your consultation, your practitioner will assess your specific concerns and recommend the most effective treatment plan to achieve your aesthetic goals.

MARIONETTE LINES

Marionette lines are the creases or folds that extend from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin, resulting from the natural decrease in skin elasticity and facial volume associated with aging. These lines can sometimes give the impression of a ‘sad clown’ face, as they may cause the mouth to appear downturned.

To improve the appearance of marionette lines, product can placed in the affected tissue through the use of a cannula, a sharp needle, or a combination of both techniques. Additionally, the presence of marionette lines can be accentuated by the tension from the DAO muscle. In such cases, your clinician might suggest including a procedure aimed at relaxing the muscles in the lower face as part of your comprehensive treatment plan to effectively address the area.

JAWLINE ENHANCEMENT

A Jawline Enhancement can improve the structure, add definition and decrease the appearance of jowls caused by aging.

As we age, bone and soft tissue start to dissolve around the jawline. This combination of shrinking fat pads and loss of structural support in the jawline contributes to the formation of jowls. Overall, the appearance is that of an aging lower face and neck. To combat this, we can enhance this area, adding volume to support the pre-jowl sulcus and along the mandible.

In terms of aesthetics, jawline enhancement can be an excellent treatment to create a chiselled, more defined jawline. This enhancement can also treat a weak asymmetric jawline. We can enhance this area where volume deficits are present to plump out the area in need of definition.

Jawline Enhancement can work particularly well with Jawline slimming and Nefertiti Neck lift treatments to further lift and define the lower face. In your consultation, your practitioner will be able to discuss what treatment options are available to best suit your needs.

What to Expect

After your and discussing your goals of treatment, your face will be mapped out for the dermal filler injections. There are a couple of different techniques that your practitioner can use when performing your lower face enhancements. This treatment may be performed through the use of  a cannula or needle or a combination of both. After your lower face enhancement, your clinician will lightly massage the area. This ensures that the dermal filler is sitting correctly within the tissues and to ensure there are no lumps/bumps. This also allows the clinician to assess your skin perfusion, ensuring no adverse events have occured.

Aftercare Advice

Aftercare advice for your lower face enhancement will be the same as all dermal-enhancing treatments. You will want to avoid any alcoholic beverages (where possible) as this can increase your chances of bruising and prolonged swelling. Refrain from any active skin treatments over the following 24 hours and all dermal skin treatments for at least 2 weeks. It is also advisable to not massage or lay directly on the area that has been injected for the first day. For more information about this, head across to our FAQ page.

At two weeks post your procedure, you will have an opportunity for a follow up appointment. It is advisable to attend this, especially if it is your first treatment. This allows your clinician to assess how the treatment is settling and address any concerns you may have in relation to the treatment.

Repeat treatments may be required to achieve the optimal results. Maintenance treatments are recommended yearly.
